As
2015 comes to an end, it’s time to take stock of the models who’ve been
big news this year. From Kendall Jenner to Gigi Hadid, here’s a list of
the models who are currently at the top of the fashion world. Read more
about some of these top models of 2015
The star: Kendall Jenner
If
there’s one name to remember this year, it’s undoubtedly that of Kim
Kardashian’s half-sister, who has been courted by the most famous
ready-to-wear brands and couture fashion houses, starting with Olivier
Rousteing, Balmain’s creative director. In 2015, this young woman, who
is just 20, won a string of contracts including ad campaigns for Estée
Lauder, Karl Lagerfeld, Calvin Klein, Balmain and Topshop, and catwalk
work for Chanel, Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs and Fendi. In November, this
slender brunette was even selected for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion
Show, the most highly anticipated show of the year.
Latest to emerge: Stella Maxwell
A
lot was written about this 24-year-old top model this year, due to her
presence in both ad campaigns and on the catwalk for famous brands and
her relationship with Miley Cyrus. This blue-eyed blonde became a
Victoria’s Secret Angel in April. This could quickly make her one of the
most in-demand models on the planet. While she does not yet have the CV
of her peers, Maxwell is far from a novice. She has paraded down the
catwalk for Chanel, Balmain, Bottega Veneta, Versace, Fendi, Gilles,
Marc Jacobs and Moschino, and posed for Ermanno Scervino and H&M.
On her way up: Gigi Hadid
The
pretty blonde with blue-green eyes has all it takes to become a
supermodel in the years to come. Aged only 20, this young woman has
already a very impressive CV, as she began her career when she was just
three. Just like Jenner, Gigi Hadid was selected for the Victoria’s
Secret Fashion Show. An announcement which greatly moved her, as can be
seen in the video of her audition that she put on Instagram. In 2015,
she also did catwalk work for Balmain, Elie Saab, Versace and Tommy
Hilfiger, plus ad campaigns for Balmain, Topshop, Tom Ford, Max Mara,
and Guess.
On her way out: Cara Delevingne
While
she is not likely to be headline news as a model in 2016, there was a
lot said about Cara Delevingne this year, mainly because she is stepping
away from the modelling world. She explained her reasons to The Times magazine
last August issues in the fashion sector and her desire to work in
movies. Since then, the woman who could have become the top model of the
future has begun an acting career with a role in Pan among others. She is also expected to be seen in Suicide Squad and Valerian, which
are slated for release in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Delevingne did
make an appearance in the Stella McCartney lingerie campaign, but it was
for a breast cancer charity.
She is not the only one to have
bidden farewell to the catwalk, as Brazilian model Gisele Bündchen also
retired from fashion show work in April.
